The Role Of A Flower: Nº 2 African Violet (Connection / Protection / Spirituality) (2020) This piece is part of a series and came about from the teachings of Jiddu Krishnamurti and the question ‘What is the role of a flower’. The African Violet flower symbolises connection, protection and spirituality. The slight resemblance to the Corona virus spore is coincidental as the artwork was created in February 2020 before the Covid-19 imagery was ubiquitous and the pandemic was declared. The image is calming and offers hope with the small white opening — a circle of hope — and the scattered pollen.
