We think of barriers as being built of tightly placed, solid elements (bricks, cement, stone), but COVID-19 has turned that logic upside down. Instead, we must distance ourselves from one another to create barriers of health. By staying away, we create spaces of safety. I am fascinated by the idea of protection by spacing out, not coming together, and I wanted to make a piece to help visually explain that. A few of the human figures can be seen having a little fun (peace, prayer, persistence). If we stay apart today, we will unite together tomorrow.
