I made the background in the style of Chinoiserie Wallpaper, which talks about elevating the status of healthcare workers in our home. The noticeable Boston images are all public spaces in which we all used to gather, but are not anymore. So there’s some play with the domestic and quarantine. I’m also thinking about how Chinese imagery serve as a visual cue for the association between Chinese culture and COVID-19.
