Chloris in Quarantine 2020 Sharpie on ceramic Typically, during this season of change, we would have seen all of the arts venues churn out imagery of Chloris, goddess of the green. Yet, here in the time of Covid- she is depicted as resilient and blossoming still. It’s interesting to see the news outlets blasting the news of a renewed earth because of human inactivity. That animals and flora have resurfaced from hiding, reminding us that we are on their earth. We should be reminded of that saying, “nature always finds its way.” So let the work be an allegory of that truth and a means to bring some comfort to those who are weary. Let Chloris’ promise be just that- a covenant that she always returns, always renews.
