This piece represents my mother and father who are both, due to their age, at high risk of serious illness from COVID-19. I aim to bring awareness to the privilege so many have to be able to stay safe and continue to provide for themselves and their families by working from home. Sanitation workers are often disregarded and looked down upon. Now they are the only reason our hospitals and other essential facilities can continue to operate safely. They are risking everything for low wages, hard work, and no benefits. They deserve better now and always.
