In 1956 a very blunt hijacking of our national motto occured. "E Pluribus Unum," became "IN GOD WE TRUST." Eisenhower and Nixon set the tone for how racism and hate would be codified as a distraction for greed. Why was it racist? It aimed to erase the idea that we can be a united nation of immigrants. They used God to divide. They employed God as prop. My statement, my poster simply mirrors how God is commodified. It helps my mental health to state truths. This method of division has been very effective. I choose not to take the bait. When I set out to do good, I often find Christians, Buddhist, Sikhs, and many other denominations by my side. "E Pluribus Unum," "Out of many, one," describes much more thoroughly the goal of democracy.
