“Gratitude” represents my gratefulness for the dedicated health care workers that are caring for and healing the people infected with COVID-19. The hand painted piece (Montana Gold spray paint) shows my good friend Alejandro Martinez, a Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, Connecticut. Alejandro and I served together in the Peace Corps and he continues his service to others as an RN. Alejandro, born in El Progresso, Honduras, is now a proud American and serves his country with honor and dedication. I am a middle school math, science and ESL teacher. For the past ten years I have been teaching in the South Bronx, Los Angeles and South Minneapolis.
