I created this piece in honor of my brother in law, who is produce manager at a grocery store. I drew on medieval and renaissance images of royalty and divinity and juxtaposed it with the lowly grocery store worker. In the post Covid world, it is my hope that we recognize these blue collar workers - grocery store employees, janitors, bus drivers, etc - who have literally kept their communities together through the pandemic with the pay and acknowledgment they deserve.
