I began work on this piece about six years ago. I began, and then the work was silent for along time. Originally an idea for someone I love, but the relationship went through difficulties and a time of silence ensued. Sometimes the silence is the most important part of the song. Like rests in a piece of music. We all need silence. Relationships sometimes need silence. Pauses can be good in the larger picture. This piece was finished during the "pause" and silence of the Covid-19 quarrentine, and creating it helped to sustain my mental health in this difficult and unprecedented time. Others have said it reminds them of the beauty of our national parks and peace.
