IT’S OK TO NOT BE OK.
Confinement, isolation, and quarantine are challenging for everyone, but especially to those suffering from mental health issues. There's a lot of pressure out there to make these times productive, and as much as I agree with that sentiment (I do think it comes from a good place), for some people, this drastic change of our lives and freedoms is only going to exacerbate symptoms of depression, anxiety, etc... I want to address this piece to those who are struggling in these hard times, to let them know that it's ok to not be ok and to feel the way you feel. It's ok to not have the energy to learn new skills or read books. It's ok to feel what you feel and take time for yourself and rest. You are not alone. As much as we want to make the best out of a bad situation, some of us are going to need time to adapt and come to terms with this new reality, and with this external pressure to be productive, it can be hard to recognize that all feelings are valid. So here it is, your feelings, whatever they are, are valid. It's ok, we'll get through this together.
