This photo depicts a teenage girl, hiding her face behind a leaf. Today, teenagers are incredibly involved in social media and the online world. To me, this picture represents a teenager getting in touch with reality, and herself, and stepping out of the box that social media has confined us to. The leaf, covering half of her face, represents the mask that many people use on social media to hide their real selves from the judgement of others. The other half of her face, peaking out behind the leaf, represents one’s true self when they take off the mask. Social media can warp our perception of what is real and what is fake, and it is incredibly important to remember to step back and reconnect with one’s real and true self.
