Lemon Gogo
As a medical doctor I use art as a way to get back in touch with life outside of the hospital. Gogo means grandmother in isiZulu, one of the 11 official South African languages. This piece I feel applies to us well during this stressful time of COVID. Gogo is making light of her situation and making spunky lemonade from her lemons. And despite her aged look, she still has an energy and zest in her which is untouchable. As grave as the current predicament is, I find it best to make light and laugh where one can - taking the South African spirit of humour and satire as my shield to protect my mental health. 🌻 (Forgive my description - writing is not my strength)
