This is a pen and ink illustration that I made while in lockdown here in South Africa. The reference that I used was a 35mm photo that I had taken last year of MKay Fresh in Johannesburg. I had to add the mask to the image. There are very few people in my country that have masks in real life, so it is an extension of the wish full thinking and make believe that gets us through this crisis. There are also very few, arguably no free stock images of black men wearing masks online. I feel useful knowing this could be added to a free collection.
