Monopolizing Wealth is the Virus
The Covid-19 crisis has highlighted the abysmal inequality that a free market system produces. When an economic system is based on the idea of making huge profits as its main target, it is difficult for this system to understand the importance of a strong social health service, state education or the need for an unemployment insurance that can help the poorest sectors of the society, as is the case in the current crisis where the poorest have been hit the most. That’s why I consider that fighting for social justice becomes an act of public health, seeking to demand governments to benefit the many and to put in place controls that stop corporate monopolies that do not dare to privatise essential public services such as those in the medical sector.
