I am submitting this piece in response to the second type of artwork you are looking for, particularly social change work during the pandemic. It comes as no surprise that several states have tried to take advantage of the Covid-19 situation and once again put up barriers between patients and safe, legal abortion services. The claim that abortion services are non-essential is absurd given the time-sensitive nature of the procedure, not to mention the preservation of bodily autonomy and ability to make life choices based on each person’s unique situation. This is just another move by those in power to exploit and suppress others, many of whom are already vulnerable, under the guise of piety. As a reproductive rights activist and Planned Parenthood advocate, I would love for my artwork to help bring attention to this urgent, evolving cause. Thank you for your consideration!
