Pandemic. Isolation in Subconscious
Media: acrylic, pastel on cardboard Size: 69х100 сm Today’s crisis caused by COVID-19 is one of the most hazardous problem and challenge the world is currently facing. As a painter and a creative person I would like make my contribution to fight against the dangerous virus. This artwork represents our current reality where schools, theatres, concert halls are closed. Life partially stopped in numerous cities and towns on entire planet. In my painting people got locked inside the invisible Coronavirus capsule, everyone remained in the privacy of one’s own mind. People realize that social distancing and self-isolation rolled out in the majority of countries may help save millions of lives. However these measures influence differently on us. The mankind faces with both its conscious and subconscious reactions. People are scared, anxious, some are depressed. The others feel vice versa and see isolation as the impulse for new possibilities such as communication with close people, acquiring new knowledge, more self-care – all that was constantly put off before. One of the capsules on the artworks shows creative people like a musician, a poet, an artist, a dancer, and a journalist. With their art they generate a certain energy, which helps maintain emotional balance of those who struggle. This energy is expressed in the rainbow image on artist’s painting. Rainbow’s vibes turn into butterflies spreading everywhere and giving people hope that everything is going to be all right! Another capsule shows medical officers. They are like angels saving us in the fight against Coronavirus. These people are on the frontline and perform daily exploits for the sake of life and sacredly follow the Hippocratic Oath. Everyone makes one’s contribution to overcome this struggling period and resist the invisible enemy, the Coronavirus. We will definitely win showing personal and public responsibility and creative approach! Despite image of virus taking a great part of my artwork, the painting shows hope and exit depicted in the window with the rainbow on artist’s canvas. The rainbow here refers to the Biblical symbol of hope that no more the Flood happens. Similarly my artwork shows that no more the pandemic repeats.
