Pandemic Voting
A few hours after the Wisconsin Governor postponed voting due to Covid19, the order was overturned by the WI Supreme Court. As a result, the citizens who didn't receive absentee ballots were forced to chose between their right to vote and the health/safety of the community. In Milwaukee, the usual 180 polling places was reduced to only 5 on voting day. Despite this blatant act of voter suppression and endangerment to public health, seeing the long lines of people wearing masks, spaced 6ft apart in an attempt to socially distance while exercising their right to vote, was surreal, poignant and infuriating. I created this piece so I never forget what April 7, 2020 looked like in Milwaukee.
