The COVID-19 pandemic has amplified depression and anxiety in our society. This has been caused by the nagging suspicion that this is "the end", and that we cannot come back from this. This piece was designed to rebel against that narrative and instead symbolize a new beginning. The hand in this piece symbolizes the virus, however, can also be seen as any obstacle that threatens the betterment of our society. This piece does not have overt symbols of the virus but, I believe this message is relevant now more than ever and will continue to be relevant long after the virus is gone. If we join together and take actions that better our neighbors we will hold on to hope and rebel against death every time.
