A lack of male positive figures has been a constant in my life. With a distant father and a no contact brother, I struggled with trusting men. During my senior year I met a group of boys. They showed me how men are supposed to treat me, how men are supposed to show up for me, and the humanity in men that I was not able to discover on my own.
