Reconnecting With Family History

This portrait captures my process of reconnecting with my family history as a third-generation Korean-American through the photo albums of my maternal grandmother. When my grandmother immigrated to the U.S. from Korea in 1964, she started to create a long record of her family's life in America through photography. During the pandemic, I rediscovered the albums and began to unearth this family history alongside her, reconnecting with unexplored and underappreciated aspects of my identity.
