Reconnecting With Family History

This portrait explores my process of reconnecting with my Korean-American background through my interpretation of my maternal grandmother, who immigrated in 1964. After years of cultural questioning and language separation as a third-generation Korean-American, this image is my attempt to peer back through the window into my grandmother's life through film photography, and in the process examine the authenticity of documentary and the constant evolution of personal culture.
