Reconnecting with My Mother
I have always felt disconnected and separated by my mother. Raising me as a single mom, she has, since youth, been my inspiration, my muse, yet always so far out of reach. With Covid-19 and the pandemic keeping us at home, I've had more time to talk to her, know her, and really understand her. My mother is fun, loud, and sees the glass as half full at all times. She vapes, acts like my older sister sometimes, but she is also reliable, resilient, and hurting. With the pandemic beginning to end, I'm starting to see my mother less, but the time we spent together as she was home during the pandemic helped our relationship. We reconnected, and are ready to pave the road behind us while moving ahead.
