Reconnecting with places despite the parts of ourselves which we hide
The time I get to spend with my grandmother has dwindled since I was young, and it will dwindle further as I leave my childhood home. At the start of this year, I took my camera to her house and photographed her as I asked her to tell me about my own childhood, and she showed me the apples in her yard I played in as a preschooler. Will my connection to my heritage, family, culture, and childhood be as strong when I am not home?
