This is a portrait that I took at the NYC Pride Parade in 2021. The subject in the photo told me that it took her a long time to become proud of who she was and that is a sentiment that is relatable to many people in this world. The bright colors and the slightly overexposed sky show that somewhere in this very gruesome world that there is optimism and pride.
