Reconnecting With Their Deaths

The centerpiece of this image is an old photograph of my great-grandmother and great-uncle, both of whom died before I was born. While stories of their lives float around at family gatherings, I realized while making this piece that I can’t even remember how they died. Instead, there remains a blank space in my memory for their faces. I wish I had all the puzzle pieces to fill it in.
