Sabaidee Pimai – Stay Safe

Tomorrow 13th of April starts "Pi Mai Lao". Pi Mai Lao or Lao New Year is the liveliest holiday of the year and one that everyone looks forward to, as it is a time when many people visit their families all over the country. The official Lao New Year festival lasts for three days, although celebrations can last more than a week in towns such as Luang Prabang. Right now it is the hottest time of the year in Laos. Most of the houses have no aircon and have sheet metal roof. Not sure people will stay in lockdown. This greeting card, that can be downloaded for free and share on social media, is a reminder for people that if they gather to celebrate New Year to wear a mask and stay safe. [translation of the words on the card : Welcome the New Year - Stay Safe] When coronavirus cases started to be diagnosed in Laos, I have released a poster called "Resilience" [same poster without the mask] to gather some funds for 2 small projects of public utility in Laos : - XonPhao Disabled People Working Group who keep making masks, and developing useful skills - Vientiane Rescue 1623 for the incredible work they have been doing for years, ambulance and first aid, firefighters and today as disinfection team. If my artwork gets the prize, the $1000 usd will be split between these 2 projects.
