SHELTER IN PLACE
H69" W20" D20" FORMED METAL The sculpture is based on a form of a human face with a filter mask over the mouth and nose. The thin neck tapers to a larger rectangle that emerges from a concrete monolith that supports the piece. The patterned circular texture in the concrete represents a fossil of a honeycomb from some past. The work is about humanity's persistence for economic growth, and its pressure on the earth, and in turn mankind. The sad, sick human form forced to wear a mask as its ancestors overran the earth and pushed nature to its limits.
