Like many artists, my studio resources are inaccessible, forcing me to rethink my studio practice. I’ve taken this time of isolation to observe the world around me more closely, paying particular attention to shifts in perspective brought about by light and shadow. “Social Distance Courting Chair” is a courting chair with a conceptual twist, using light and shadow to create the other half. Using only what I have available to me, I created this piece in hopes of starting a dialogue about how connection with one another is being effected during this pandemic.
