Social Distance Not Social Disengagement

The Creation of Adam, the original inspiration for this illustration, shows God giving life to Adam, and thus the entirety of humankind. The depiction of God before this time was that of imperial, apathetic, far-removed ruler. I’m not generally one for religion, but I do find it comforting that Michelangelo made God accessible and within reach to humans in this intimate moment. That closeness is something we long for in what is most definitely a serious and consequential season of life. It’s been a tough thing to learn and adapt to, but we can stay socially engaged from afar.
