Ron DeSantis, the current governor of Florida, has faced criticism over his handling of Florida's Black history standards, among other controversial decisions . A majority of Black Republicans in Congress have criticized DeSantis for Florida's new standards on slavery. The teaching standards have also put Florida and DeSantis in the middle of the politically polarized fight over what and how to teach. DeSantis has also faced criticism for his controversial laws, including a ban on gender-affirming care for minors and expanding the "Don't Say Gay" law. The NAACP even issued a travel advisory in May that called Florida "openly hostile" for African Americans, people of color, and LGBTQ individuals. It's time to recategorize Desantis for what he is - a creep.
