I was inspired to make this art when I watched my daughter fill our dinning room table with cuttings of South Asian textiles to make masks. I began to visualize tables like this across the country. I was touched by the idea of fabrics rich in memories with stories and history woven into them now being used to protect us and help us to protect others. As Covid-19 shines a light on the root causes of inequality and how interconnected we are, it is with great urgency that we must come together and take care of each other.
