TAKEITEASY
This phrase was initially taken as a personal mantra to repeat at moments of stress and anxiety from Anouk Kruithof’s book titled ‘Happy Birthday to You’. A. Kruithof travelled to a psychiatric unit where she interviewed patients about their birthday wishes. What fascinated me about some of the interviews was the piercing truth and the accuracy of words when describing our world. As long as I can remember I have gone in and out of phases of severe anxiety getting caught up in an obsessive cycle of thoughts, loosing sense of reality. At moments of unease this phrase brings me back in touch with the bigger picture and reminds me to slow down, to breathe..
