Forrest Curl forrestcurl@gmail.com Amplify Open Call Artist Statement I am a Tattoo Artist by trade. I created this work after closing my business voluntarily to fight the spread of COVID -19. While I was holed up at home with my family in Rhode Island I saw images on TV of hospitals in New York starting to get overrun. I also saw images of beaches packed with Spring Breakers in Florida and bars in Boston packed with revelers for St. Patrick’s Day. On social media, I saw tattoo shops in other parts of the country justify staying open, then bitch about it when the state closed them down. These people’s lack of concern for their fellow citizens completely enraged me. The artwork I created was the result of that rage.
