When we touch through music
Riffing on Matisse’s life-affirming work La Danza, ‘When we touch through music’ reveals our longing for touch and shared connection in a period of social distancing. The basic necessities are found to include the simple hug and a hand to hold, with the desire for physical connection creating a divide in which loneliness can emerge. But there are other ways that we can move each other and enjoy physical contact. Though we may be separated, when we share music and dance together, the gap of distance seems to matter less.
