I have never submitted artwork to anything before, first time for everything I suppose. This is a photo of a girlfriend I had. Her eyes I felt were key to the image and offered more to the topic of conversation more than any caption or messaging that could be written on it. I applied the mask, as a call of protection, but also to comment on the action of beauty being hidden. I felt a lotus flower was complimentary to the image, which was created from some bold lines and the Wu Tang symbol if you really look for it; as well it pays homage to Shepard Fairey, who is a massive influence.
