Housing Is A Human Right

Housing has become even more of a critical issue during this pandemic, it will likely have a disproportionate impact on low-income households and workers, and those who are housing insecure. Everyone deserves access to a safe and stable form of housing, and our housing policies must adapt to address this. This pandemic continues to show us the critical role that housing plays in protecting our own health and safety, and those of our communities. Hopefully this will encourage us to reimagine and adjust our housing policies and our oppressive housing systems to advance housing security and equity. With widespread loss of income (often with many not qualifying for unemployment or other forms of aid), many of us will be facing the inability to pay rent and access to secure housing. We also need to be thinking of those locked up (in jails, prisons, and immigration detention centers) who are unable to achieve social distancing, and don't have access to adequate medical care to properly respond to COVID-19. We need to be calling for decarceration, access to medical care, mass clemencies, and the release of vulnerable populations. Incarcerated people are family and community members who deserve health, life and dignity. Right now is the time to demand action and change. This poster is a call to action, meant to show us that our voices can impact policy and offer hope.
