America’s Got Talent

Mexican immigrants have contributed greatly to the U.S. economy, making up more than a third of the workforce in some industries. Their geographic mobility helps local economies respond to worker shortages. Additionally, they pay taxes that benefit all Americans, including Social Security and Medicare. Mexican immigration has also led to improvements in workplace safety for native and non-Mexican workers. Increased immigration has led to natives working in jobs with lower measures of occupational risk. Mexican immigration has also encouraged increased trade and investment, enhancing prosperity in both countries. Despite these benefits to our economy, Mexican immigrants have faced many challenges in the United States, including racial discrimination, deportation, violence and inhumane conditions.
