Initially, I just walked around LA and took photographs of everything that came into my sight. This person approached me and asked what I was doing and what was interesting in the bike I was photographing. I explained that the wheel was broken and that it looked interesting to me. We chatted and as he was walking off, I noticed his shirt. I asked him if I could take a photo of it because the inscription on his shirt made a lot of sense and each person can find their own meaning in the question "Are you in the dark?”
