Check Your Privilege
Check Your Privilege Arista Zhu 16 She/her Photography is a way for me to capture the realities I see. When hungry, we go to the kitchen to check our fridge, but we must check our privilege at the same time. It’s frustrating to see people take things for granted. My responsibility as an artist is to promote awareness through authentic photography while pushing viewers to act upon the severities of situations. While this photo may make the viewer feel guilty every time they open their fridge, those sympathetic feelings will make them remember their privilege and inspire them to help solve the social issue of food insecurity.
