Confidence is something I’ve struggled with my entire life. Dance changed all of that, through dance I’ve gained confidence, community, balance, and experience. My school’s Ballet Folklorico team, Son De La Palma, has created a safe space for all students while maintaining a learning environment. I believe that the arts are very important and it helps with expressing one’s self. You can not have confidence without self expression. You can not have self expression without art. It may be dance, visual arts, cinematography, theatre, or music, but you can not deny that it doesn't create a safe environment for everyone. I am in pursuit of confidence within the arts.
