Damanjeet Khaira

Here sits a child with his hands folded and held close to his face, just like his parents taught him to. That whenever they go to the gurdwara, he needs to sit that way in front of the pew and pray. Like many parents, they’ve passed on their practice of religion onto their children. Religion is passed for many generations, for in their religion they find peace and clarity. Even among all the chaos in their life, religion is their center that emits calm. From when I was young, the gurdwara became a place that calmed all my thoughts, giving me a sense of peace even during my most hectic days.
