My pursuit project connects to the theme of “values” we studied this year. The statue in the photo in front of the Capitol Building is the Statue, ‘Forward.’ The statue is an embodiment of the state of Wisconsin. Jean Pond Miner was given a unique opportunity for women those days, to sculpt that statue.“(Jean Pond) Miner crafted Forward as an allegory of the devotion and progress she believed her state embodied.” After about 100 years, the statue material started to break down. Women from everywhere in Wisconsin funded to replace it with a replica. This is an example of “values” because the statue symbolizes what Wisconsin stands for, “devotion and progress.”
