According to the Union of Concerned Scientists, one-fifth of the causes of global warming are caused by cars and trucks. If we, as a nation, do not take the adequate steps to combat climate change, hundreds of thousands of species will go extinct. One-fifth of this major problem comes from cars. The fossil fuels that we use everyday to put gas in our cars is thickening the atmosphere and causing the giant wildfires in California, the rising sea levels that are destroying homes and islands, the extreme hurricanes in the Southeast. If everyone in the country switched from using a gas-powered car to one powered by renewable energy, the CO2 levels in America would drop immediately by 8.4%, INSH has reported. I am in pursuit of a future where citizens of the US, and of the world, rely mainly on renewable energy sources for transportation.
