According to a study from the University of Chicago in 2019, nearly 800,000 children were reported to be working in cocoa plantations in the Ivory Coast. Major chocolate companies like Nestlé and Hershey are unwilling to spend money on finding an alternative solution. These corporations still rely on child labor in West Africa to this day.
