In Pursuit Of Air Equity
In San Diego, the Barrio Logan community has 97% of their population identifying as people of color and yet 35% of this community lives in poverty. In the community of La Jolla 14% are people of color and only 3% of people live in poverty. 127,908,799 pounds of toxic waste is in the air of Barrio Logan community and yet only 3,203,992 pounds of toxic waste is in La Jolla’s air. The Environmental Health Coalition is an organization that works to address health inequities and air pollution by working with communities to fight for environmental justice.
