Ivanpah Lake / June 15, 2020 “Ride Along”

In this image I am in pursuit of appreciation. You may only see expansive nothingness, but in fact this “lifeless” desert is an incredibly diverse ecosystem, teeming with well-adapted plants and animals. Just because you cannot directly see the life, doesn't mean it is not there. Our society usually determines a place lifeless or not, based on the materialistic objects there -- big buildings, fast cars, fancy stores, extreme wealth. But this desert does not offer that...so it’s lifeless? No. It is untouched by modern ways, preserved in its daunting vast emptiness. It is beautifully abandoned, away from the greed of our society. It is life.
