I have so often seen the religious texts that I study being used to sew hatred or to defend inequality. I made this piece to serve as a reminder that these texts call for justice. Amos 5 in particular references a time when wealth inequality was rampant, and people turned their backs on the suffering in society. Today, we desperately need justice for all people, and for the planet that we share. The foreground photo here was taken crossing a river in the Sierra Nevada mountains.
