I chose to do this topic because there are still people that believe that LGBTQIA people should not have rights. This picture is of one of the first pride parades in 1970. I think that it is important for schools to actually teach LGBT history so that people will be more educated and know why the LGBTQIA community needs a parade and the month of June dedicated to them. We are still facing homophobia and the fear of getting our rights taken away. The fact that people are not taught about everything this community have gone through is terrible and I hope that one day we will get to the point where people will talk more about our history.
