One Person, One Vote.
The process of voting has always been lauded as one of the cornerstones of American democracy. It allows citizens to express their political and moral values in the hopes of making an impact on their country and government. However, the electoral college has long been the deciding factor in who wins the presidential election, and completely overrides the popular vote. Electors can choose to disregard the popular vote of their state and give electoral votes to the candidate of their choice based on personal interests. This institution stifles the power of true democracy and results in a presidency and government that doesn't accurately represent the American people. This tradition must cease to continue, for only then can every American make their voice heard and their vote irrefutable.
