In the US we have American exceptionalism. We are the best when it comes to the military, economy, being a powerhouse in international politics but we also have problems that should no longer exist. Our xenophobic past and present makes life harder for marginalized Americans. To some people the American flag has evolved into a hate symbol. It has become synonymous with racist or people don't see the country's problems. It begs the question to those who fly the American flag proudly; what are you so proud of? The cycles of poverty, the racism around us, or the kids in cages at the border?
